School Holiday Adventures in Armadale: Top 10 things to do with kids

School holidays are here and the City of Armadale is home to loads of fun and family-friendly activities to enjoy with kids. Step back in time at our local museums, get lost in the world of books at our local libraries, or adventure into nature and marvel at the wonders of the great outdoors.

1. Armadale Reptile Centre

Get up close and personal with a menagerie of scaly and furry native wildlife. The Centre is home to over 70 species of Australian reptiles, marsupials and amphibians. Open 7 days a week during school holidays.

2. Heritage Trees Walk

Marvel at Armadale’s botanic beauty on a self-guided walk through the town centre meandering past 29 trees of historical, cultural and botanic significance.

Start at the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre, 40 Jull Street, Armadale.

3. How Good is Your Imagination?

If you can only see part of an object, do you think you could figure out what it is and find it in the museum?  

When you think you have found it, open the clue and see if you are right. Come and try your hand at this challenge!

All ages are welcome. Bookings are not required.

4. Shipwreck Park

Round up your little landlubbers and head to Shipwreck Park to walk the plank, sail the seven seas and embark on pirate adventures at this seafaring themed adventure playground.

5. Geocaching

Embark on a digital treasure hunt with the family on Armadale’s geocaching trails. Crack clues along the way to lead you to a hidden ‘cache’ at a secret location.

6. Storytime at the Library

Storytime sessions foster a love of reading, stimulate the imagination and encourage social interaction with other children. Hear stories, sing songs and enjoy a craft activity together. These sessions’ help children learn literacy and STEAM skills (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) and help prepare them for school.

7. Bungendore Park

See how many native species you can spot on the walk trails at Bungendore Park, home to kangaroos, wallabies, quendas, and abundant birdlife. Visit at dawn or dusk for when wildlife are at their most active.

8. Naked Apple Cider

The kids will love exploring the magical gardens and playground and you’ll love relaxing with a great meal while they play. Make Thursday family date night where kids eat free between 5 - 9pm!*

9. Toddler Romp at the Library

At these sessions, we will romp, sing, rhyme and share stories, and there will be related activity sheets for toddlers to do at home. These sessions are best suited for toddlers aged 18 to 30 months, although siblings of other ages welcome.

Thursdays 10.30 to 11am at Seville Grove Library

10. Rushton Park

Nature play the day the away at Rushton Park, enjoy leaf boat races down the creek, play on the colourful playground or enjoy a barbeque under the shade of the old gum trees. Pick up a copy of the City of Armadale’s Nature Play Passport to continue your outdoor adventures.
