Polewalking Group

Pole Walking is walking with a set of specially designed poles to assist and further enhance everyday walking.

It is a fun and functional way to exercise, and is considered the 'Best All in One Workout' in the world!

Pole walking promotes health and well being. It exercises the mind and the body. It has been noted that pole walking can be particularly helpful to dementia suffers and people suffering from Parkinson's.

Benefits:

  • Low joint impact, less pain and strain burn more calories with no greater exertion compared to standard walking
  • Good for your heart with a positive impact on cholesterol and blood pressure
  • Works every major muscle group to strengthen, tone and increase bone density
  • Enhances balance, stability, posture and mobility
  • Sociable environment to meet new friends
  • Suits everyone regardless of age and level of fitness

Poles are a gold coin donation, or you may purchase a pair from the Visitor Centre. Of course, you are more than welcome to bring your own!
