Experience the thrills of the Perth Hills
Are you a walker or a cyclist? Maybe you’re a rock climber or a budding geocacher? No matter what you fancy, the Perth Hills Armadale has something for you.
You and your crew can hike your way to greatness tackling the world-famous Bibbulmun Track. For the more experienced hiker, hit the Mount Dale section of the track located near Kelmscott.
Get off the ground and experience a rock climb with family and friends these school holidays. Head to Churchman’s Brook Dam with an organised climbing company – find out details from Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre. Refuel afterwards with a picnic amongst beautiful bushland.
The Perth Hills region is home to plenty of challenging, rewarding tracks and trails to ride. The Dams Challenge is ranked as one of the world’s top 50 rides and travels through our region. Alternatively enjoy a ride around Champion Lakes Regatta Centre any time of year.
Become a famous geocacher! Geocaching is an outdoor treasure hunting game where players use GPS devices (such as a mobile phone) to locate hidden containers filled with prizes. Gather the family together and visit the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre for more info.
Get Back to Nature
Perth Hills Armadale’s picturesque landscapes are some of the most captivating in the State. If you fancy a meander through the bush, a memorable picnic amongst the trees, or a meet and greet with a reptile, you’re living in the right place to show your visitors a great time during Autumn. Be sure to be sun-safe and bring water!
Araluen Botanic Park
Araluen Botanic Park* is a must-do for every local and their visitors. Explore the park’s 59 hectares, marvel at its flora, spend time with its fauna, and for budding photographers, capture some of the best scenery Perth Hills Armadale has to offer.
The Perth Hills and Armadale is home to many of Western Australia’s national parks, all within close proximity.
Immerse yourself in the beauty of Bungendore Regional Park. Also nestled amongst the Perth Hills is Eagle View Walk Trail, a 15-kilometre loop trail overlooking Perth.
Take in breathtaking views at Lesmurdie National Park as you lookout over Perth and the valley at Sixty Foot Falls or hit a walk trail at Serpentine National Park.
Discover an Animal Friend
If time with a reptile is more your thing, visit Armadale Reptile and Wildlife Centre*, home to more than 200 reptiles and over 70 different species of animals. Get up close and personal with our country’s favourite furry friend; the koala, at Cohunu Koala Park*.
Fancy a Picnic?
If you’re looking for a picnic spot where you can relax and unwind but still keep the kids busy, we have heaps to choose from – from those located in the Armadale city centre to others tucked away amongst the stunning trees at Araluen, Serpentine Falls Park or Canning Dam. Check out Raeburn Orchard to stock up on seasonal fruits before you head out!
Playtime is Family Time
Enjoy playtime anytime in one of the region’s many parks and playgrounds. Find out what’s inside a robot head at Robot Park in Piara Waters, sail the high seas at Kelmscott’s Pirate Ship Park or run, jump and explore at Rushton Park.
Check out the new kid on the block – Lions Park is walking distance from the CBD and features its own little race track, perfect for your scooter-crazed little ones.
It’s all about the BBQ
Perth Hills Armadale Robot Park
Soak up the natural environment with a BBQ picnic at Churchman Brook Dam, Serpentine Dam, or in the centre of Armadale at Memorial Park while the kids enjoy the playground. Many of the parks around Perth Hills welcome four-legged friends, so ask the Visitor Centre for locations.
Skate or Paddle
Kids itching to hit the half-pipe? Armadale and the Perth Hills have three epic skate parks;
1. Armadale Skate Park – Orchard Avenue
2. Forrestdale Skate Park – Weld Street
3. Roleystone Skate Park – Jarrah Road
If you’re a water baby, grab a paddle to canoe or kayak like a champion at the world class facilities at the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre.

Autumn time in the Perth Hills Armadale region is all about good food and good times with family and friends.

Restaurants throughout the region can cater for whatever takes your fancy. Find healthy choices at The Organic Circle or Genesis in the Hills, indulge in delectable delights and must-have desserts at The Manse Restaurant or an affordable feast at Avocados Café in Kelmscottt. Alternatively, get your caffeine fix at the popular Hidden café in Kelmscott.
Take it home
For take home produce visit Mundijong’s Mundella Foods for award winning cheese and yoghurt or travel to nearby Oakford for a taste of what Borello Cheese has on offer. Stock up on sweet fruits and take a fruitful walk in the country to pick your own juicy fruit in the region’s orchards.

Here you’ll learn how to skate with the best or if that’s not your thing there will also be plenty of games to join in.
