Escape to Egerton Downs

Egerton Downs is one accommodation destination we simply had to include. Located in Dwellingup and just a short scenic drive from the Perth Hills Armadale, it’s an idyllic getaway for a peaceful long weekend retreat, family stay, nature trip...or anything you want it to be.

Situated amongst natural bushland, ideal for wildflowers and wildlife alike, Egerton Downs is a perfect holiday settlement but especially suited for families or romantic weekends. Comes equipped with air - conditioning for hot summer days and a large wood - burner for cold winter nights.

Egerton Downs is the perfect place to base yourself out of, whether you’re looking to explore Serpentine Falls, the South West (which is right on your doorstep!), or Dwellingup itself. Natural forest reserves surround the area and local swimming holes are right around the corner.

ARC Upcoming Culture, Markets, Music and Arts Events

You might have noticed the Jull Street Mall being treated with a dazzling display of colour and musical activity lately (we’re not just talking about their public street piano).

That’s because the ARC (Artist Retail Collective) has been busy with a variety of different projects and events, and are bringing some of their most popular events in during Spring into Armadale, including their Live Music and Food Nights

Every Thursday from 6 to 8pm until the end of November, there’ll be a local musician coming over to ARC with a different genre each week. Food and drinks will be available for purchase on the night from the ARC Tea House, so bring your crew along to enjoy  a meal along with the entertainment.

Bookings are encouraged on the ARC Facebook page.

Also hosted by ARC during this time from 4 to 8pm are the Night and Vintage Night Markets. Displaying a variety of authentic vintage goods, as well as local artwork, you’ll really get the chance browse the curios or pick your own little piece of history.

The Armadale Society of Artists ‘Art House on Hobbs’ kick off their inaugural Market Day on Sunday 15 September, complete with craft stalls, children’s activities, markets, and the classic Australian sausage sizzle.

The Art House on Hobbs Gallery itself is open 9am to 12 Monday to Saturday, but are also happy to open later via appointment. The Art House can be contacted on 0455 552 842.

Enjoy the Wildflowers this Spring with Guided Walks

As spring approaches, take the opportunity to catch the wildflowers in bloom and experience the natural beauty of the City of Armadale and Perth Hills Armadale region through a range of great guided walks.

The Armadale Branch of the Wildflower Society of WA is offering the opportunity to enjoy Banyowla Regional Park’s display with its ‘Walk at Connell Avenue Reserve’ in Kelmscott, Saturday 31 August, 9 to 11am and again 2 November, 8am. Located at the western section of the Banyowla Regional Park, Connell Reserve offers flora that is typical of Ridge Hill Shelf vegetation, the area where Swan Coastal Plain and Darling Scarp flora meet.

Also in Kelmscott, why not enjoy the Friends of Lloyd Huges ‘Wildflower Walk in Lloyd Hughes Park’, 15 September, heading off at 8.30am from the corner of Martin and Marmion Streets, Kelmscott. Enjoy a walk through Lloyd Hughes Park, a 17.7 hectare A class reserve in the foothills of the Darling Scarp in Kelmscott, managed by the City of Armadale. The park boasts Marri and Jarrah woodland, and Flooded Gum woodland along the creek-line. In earlier times areas within the park were mined for gold and slate.

For the latest hints on wildflower spots, walks, books and brochures on flower identification head into the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre on 40 Jull Street or check out the events section of our website /events.
