Core Cider is an authentic farm venue and bistro offering exceptional artisan ciders and orchard events. For over 80 years we have cultivated our orchard and provided fun experiences for the whole family. History
It was over 80 years ago, in 1939, when Giovanni-Battista Della Franca (aka Jack) planted his first apple tree. Soon he was making grappa and sharing his concoctions with the whole neighbourhood. Jack’s son Giancarlo Della Franca (aka Charlie) followed in his footsteps, planting a small vineyard in the 60s. Fast-forward 40 years, we were ready to take an ‘apple leaf’ out of the family’s book. Four generations after the first tree was planted, we’re still crafting cider for the whole community to enjoy.
Cider
Our ciders are crafted onsite, making for an authentic orchard-to-glass cider experience. Using our eighteen apple varieties, we produce limited seasonal releases, popular fruity sparkling ciders and premium traditional ciders utilising methods such as basket pressing and barrel fermentation.
Lunch
Kick back, sip on a cider and take in the fresh forest air – we’ll take care of the rest. Settle in for lunch in the Orchard Bistro where you’ll enjoy a two or three course menu (bookings essential) or pack a picnic blanket and relax on The Green with pizza, casual eats and cider.
Orchard
Core Cider is situated on 40 acres of orchards. It’s magical in every season, with lush greenery and gorgeous blooms in spring, apples and bright colours in autumn, stone fruit varieties in summer, and citrus in winter. We use all our fruit in cider, wine, spirits, jams and preserves.
Cider Making
Once our apples are harvested by hand, the carts are taken to The Old Apple Shed for pressing. Our cider is crushed right here then stored to ferment and mature before being bottled or canned at Core.
Tours
Enjoy our year-round tours, with fruit picking in Summer and Autumn, puddle jumping in Winter and beautiful blossoms in Spring. Tractor and walking tours are available to book.
